Xavier University
Xavier University is one of the country's cozier universities, with just 4,000 students and a strong focus on liberal arts studies. However, their graduate programs are much more diverse, with the MBA program ranked 14th nationally by US News and World Report.
Cincinnati was considered the country's first boomtown, when growth exploded in the early nineteeth century. Cincinnati has a beautiful climate and opportunities for plenty of outdoor activities, including watching sports as well as engaging in them! It is home to a world class zoo and the world's largest wooden rollercoaster, but one of Cincinnati's best characteristics for students is its ranking at #4 in the top ten cities for new graduates according to CNN.
Cars for Cincinnati
With a ranking of just 48 out of 100 for walkability, the area around Xavier University is quite car dependent. If you're fit, it's a little over half a mile to grocery stores, bars, restaurants and drug stores, but with little diversity in services.
Neighborhoods for XU Students in CincinnatiHyde Park, Evanston and Avondale are all adjacent neighborhoods to the Xavier University area. Hyde Park is a more upmarket area, with Avondale and Evanston more affordable, and also a little more population dense neighborhoods.
If you would rather be closer to the city, in a more walkable area, try Mount Adams or Eden Park. The only disadvantage is that you'll need transport to get to school then!
Cincinnati Apartments for Students

However, apartment choices in the neighborhoods close to school are fairly scattered. Most housing rentals are available north and west of the city center, clustered around Westwood, College Hill and Crescent Spring.
You'll definitely need to head into the city center for any diversity in Cincinnati nightlife. Dive bars and music venues are Cincinnati's specialty, and The Comet, Northside Tavern, Blind Lemon and Music Hall are all favorites.
