Big Man on Campus

...preeetty much sums up what the Winthrop Eagles are all about. "Big Man on Campus" is a male beauty pageant held to raise money for the speech and hearing impaired. So pack your mascara, boys, we're goin' to the ball. Just kidding (sort of). Big Man on Campus is one of the many events at Winthrop University, where a good time is had by all. There's also the Kappa Sigma oyster roast and a packed roster of lecturers and entertainers that come through Winthrop University. A point of pride for many lady Eagles is that they share an alma mater with Mary Gaulden Jagger, the cofounder of the National Organization for Women. Winthrop holds its own in its region as it is one of the Top 10 Public Universities in the South, according to U.S. News &World Report. Rockin' in Rock Hill

Thanks to Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina is a residential town with a big personality. The school's quaint location in Rock Hill's College Historic District is ideal for a stroll (when you need a break from reading, that is). Some students finding housing in apartment complexes right next to campus, for ultimate convenience. Such properties are close to two other colleges, so you might make new friends from new places. Crusin' the Catawba

The Catawba River runs alongside Rock Hill and becomes a hang out spot for students in the spring and summer months. For yearround amusement, give Carowinds amusement park a whirl. This "Thrill Capital of the Southeast" will take your breath away. Rock Hill is also only a stone's throw from Charlotte, where you can indulge any specialty interest from science to NASCAR NASCAR. My personal favorite attraction in Charlotte is Metalmorphosis. Take the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) to get around Rock Hill and from Rock Hill to Charlotte.
