    Richmond is a highly pedestrian-friendly city. Neighborhoods like Jackson Ward, Church Hill, The Fan, and the Museum District all offer a wide variety of housing to fit any price range, and are located within walking distance from many local amenities as well as public transportation. The only neighborhood to avoid if you would like to walk or bike to work and other destinations, would be the West End, which is only really accessible by car. Also notable, Richmond's James River Park System snakes through most of the city allowing for even more walkability.

    Some of the best places to take your dogs outdoors in Richmond are, naturally, one of the city's many dog parks. These include Barker Field Dog Park (at Byrd Park), Church Hill Dog Park (at Chimborazo Park), Phideaux Field (at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church), and Ruff House Dog Park (at Rockwood Park). Another great place to take your pets for a walk in Richmond is along the river; the James River Park System features multiple parks and trails along the river from Robius Road all the way to the bottom.
