The University of Colorado is located in Boulder, which is one of the best college towns anywhere and the word one hears most often to describe it is 'awesome'. Of the 28,000 students at UC, 75% live off campus. While on campus parking is very difficult, the city of Boulder has an excellent mass transit system, and students ride free. So, when you start the search for your University of Colorado apartment, check whether or not there will be parking for your car because you'll probably want to leave it at home when you go to class.
Right around the campus, there's plenty in the way of shopping, eating, and drinking. While you'll find nearly any kind of food you might want, you won't find a lot of chain restaurants. Through the Hill you'll find little places like Dot's Diner, which is great for breakfast, Illegal Pete's with its enormous burritos, and happy hour freebies at Happas.
Boulder is a party town pure and simple. There are two primary areas for nightlife. On the Hill, the Sink is a favorite starting point for an evening. Mamacita's has fantastic and cheap margaritas, and you'll want to check out the rooftop at K's during nice weather. Other nights, students head to Pearl Street where its a little more upscale and a nice switch from the Hill. Try out the Walrus and the Foundry.
With some of the best skiing in the world only minutes away, Boulder and the University of Colorado are bound to be a place you love. Go Buffalos!
