UC Riverside is one of the ten campuses of the University of California, and is home to a wide and eclectic variety of achievement by students, including research collections on citrus, photography and science fiction works.
Riverside is one of the most sprawling cities in the nation, and also one of the areas with the highest concentrations of universities! It is known as a center for research and development, and many of the activities are focused on learning. Art and metropolitan museums are popular, as are botanic gardens and the Citrus State Historic Park - Riverside is the birthplace of the navel orange.
Walkability and Public Transport in Riverside
While Riverside itself is fairly car dependent, the area around UC Riverside is actually quite walkable, with a score of 74out of 100. 7-Eleven will be a lifesaver, only half a mile away, as will Starbucks and a range of restaurants close by to school.
Riverside does have several different forms of public transport, with 15 fixed route bus services and three express commuter services. There are also community based trolley routes around the city.
Affordable Riverside Housing Options
Riverside is one of the most affordable areas, apartment and housing wise, in California. While the amount of real estate is not enormous, there is a good range close to UC Riverside and most is available for around $600 to $800 per month.
Actual houses are rare, but apartments range from budget to luxury in Riverside. Other than the center of town and the UC Riverside area, most apartments for rent can be found in the Colton and Redlands area, near Bryn Mawr.

Nightlife around University of California Riverside is fairly limited (all the better to help you concentrate on study!), but The Getaway Café has provided many a student with a cool drink at the end of a hard day, and El Castillo No 3 Restaurant and Nightclub is another popular Riverside nightspot for UC students.
