UAA-University of Academics and Athletics
Students have reason to be proud of the University of Alabama, to call it amazing, awesome, astounding, and awe-inspiring. It is a school full of tradition, teaching, learning, and discovering; students find that they are encouraged to ask questions, take part in research, and get involved with organizations on campus. All of these things make the college experience a positive one, after which students find professions that interest and support them. Academics at UA are one thing, but athletics put the school in a league of its own! Bama Football fans at UA are die-hard, and the Bryant-Denny Stadium becomes jam-packed with people during the games. When a school’s mascot is an elephant named Big Al, you know the team has gotta be good. In fact, UA just won the BCS national championship of football! Go Big Al!
UA—University of Apartments
The University of Alabama is located in Tuscaloosa, and in the fall, football mania pretty much rules the town. That being said, there is still much to do besides just thinking about the Big Al. There is shopping, art galleries, museums, bars and restaurants on the Strip, plenty of water sports, and outdoor activities like hiking and camping. Living off campus is a great way to get more involved in the community while getting some privacy that three roommates won’t allow; students often grow out of dorm life after freshman year, and 70% of upperclassmen choose to live off campus. Preston Place and the University Downs are popular renting spots because they are inexpensive. Other students rent by the Strip so they can be closer to campus—and the local bars and restaurants. UA—University of (night) Activity
Besides constant tailgating parties, there are plenty of ways to have fun on the weekends. For some wings and beer, go to Buffalo Phil’s, and for some burgers and more beer and Crimson Tide paraphernalia, head on over to Mugshots. The under 21 crowd enjoys frat, house, and apartment parties and of course football football football parties!

What neighborhoods in Tuscaloosa are good for eating out?
Northport is on the other side of the Black Warrior River from downtown Tuscaloosa and offers some of the most frequented restaurants in the area including the famous Dreamland Barbecue. You haven't visited Tuscaloosa without going to Chuck's Fish for an excellent meal serving only local Gulf coast fish. Near the university you will find some of the best "home cooking" barbecue, (Moe's original Barbecue) and international food. Or, you can make your way to North Tuscaloosa for the famous Cypress Inn for an established and romantic southern meal.
