Laurel is a great commuter town. It's right on the rail link between D.C. and Baltimore and is also serviced by D.C. bus service. It's got an historic old center of town and is also close to several big open spaces ad state parks. It's got the best of convenience and being surburban.

What's the weather like in Laurel?
Laurel is kind of on that cusp between Mid-Atlantic and Southern weather. It's hot in the summer and tends to be muggy while winters are fairly cold and temps stay in the 30s. But there are four distinct seasons which is really nice.

What areas of Laurel are safe for walking around at night?
The safest areas of Laurel are those on the western side of town. Old Laurel is a nice, safe neighborhood near Laurel High School with Victorian homes built during the 1890s. Some other safe areas of town include the Glens of Wellington, located near the Laurel Hospital, as well as the new apartments of the Russet neighborhood, and historic Laurel, with single-family homes and small apartment buildings.
