Known to locals as the WOD, the Washington and Old Dominion Regional Park is a long narrow park that stretches for 45 miles from Shirlington to Purcellville. Part of the region's rails-to-trails project, the scenic park features mostly flat, paved trails. Dogs are welcome in the park and along the trails as long as they are kept on a leash, and the WOD conveniently provides several mutt-mitt stations along the way to help keep the park clean. Ashburn's entrance to the park includes a 40-car parking lot on Ashburn Road.
