Truly a college for the new age, Rio Salado offers its classes almost entirely virtually, and although it has over 13,000 students, there are just over 30 full time faculty members. Maricopa County is huge and sometimes remote, and Rio Salado brings education to those who can't come to the usual centers.

However, for those that like to be close to their classes and able to actually speak to their teachers and admin staff when necessary, Rio Salado is located in Tempe, just outside of Phoenix. While Tempe rates only 60 out of 100 for walkability, this matters little when you realize that much of your learning will be done at home, right in your student apartment. For library facilities, Arizona State University is close by.

Breaks for your Brain in Phoenix
Getting out and about will be crucial when you are both working and sleeping in your student housing. While there is a greater diversity of activities in Phoenix itself, there are still quite a few choices in Tempe. Go for a simple change of scenery while you brush up on the books at Dutch Bros Coffee, where the Kahlua Kickers are lauded by many, but the staff are considered to be the real asset, with a great friendly team atmosphere. Get away from your computer screen at the Time Out Lounge, one of Tempe's best bars, a mid-priced cash only venue that is good for both private reading time or happy times with friends.
Look for coffe shop and bar reading material at Changing Hands bookstore, a second-hand and new shop which is actually one of the best-reviewed businesses in Tempe! They have in house book signings, and one of the best metaphysical as well as biographical sections in Phoenix.
