    Oxnard boasts a Mediterranean climate with mild weather year round. Summers are warm and dry, with average highs in the 70s and average lows in the 50s. Winters bring slightly cooler temperatures, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. The onshore breezes keep Oxnard cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than adjacent cities further inland. With a whopping 350 days of sunshine each year and only 16" of annual rainfall, residents can take full advantage of beachside activities year-round, like the world class surfing at nearby Ormond Beach.

    The City of Oxnard and surrounding communities are served by four different school districts which provide elementary and middle school education to students. They are Hueneme School District, Oxnard School District, Oceanview School District, and Rio School District, and all have received very low marks in terms of quality of education. All public high schools in Oxnard are operated by the Oxnard Union High School District. Serving 20,000 high school students at 10 campuses in three cities, Oxnard Union High School District has been rated as better than 85.5 percent of school districts in California and 86.0 percent of school districts in the US. Therefore, the high schools are excellent but the K-8 schools are subpar.
