What do people in Middletown do as far as outdoor recreation?
Located in the midst of many mountains and forest, Middletown residents shall not want for outdoor opportunities. To the northeast lies Highland Lakes State Park, whose more than 3,000 acres of undeveloped woods and lakes allow for fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and flying model planes. Stewart State Forest, which lies beyond Highland Lakes State Park to the east, offers a 6700-acre mix of wetlands, fields, and woods, including 18 miles of gravel roads and over 22 miles of major trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting, bird watching, and fishing, as well as skiing and snowmobiling in the snowy winter months. For more hiking and camping opportunities, there's also Harriman State Park to the southeast and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to the southwest.
