Does Modesto have any famous museums or exhibitions?
With beautiful architecture of the Carnegie era, the McHenry Mansion and Museum of Arts & History is a Modesto "must". The gorgeous, turn of the century mansion is a historic landmark, meticulously restored and refurbished to its original Victorian style. The museum is small and intimate, chronicling the history and culture of Modesto with several permanent, as well as rotating, exhibits. The McHenry Museum also provides children's programs and produces a handful of community events throughout the year. Residing within the Modesto Airport, the Hillier Air Museum showcases classic aircraft exhibits and films of the 1930's and 40's. Modesto's Great Valley Museum of Natural History is located at Modesto Junior College. This local favorite museum features five habitats with native plants and animals, as well as a children's discovery room with hands-on exhibits.
