How is the nightlife in Merced?
As a city of over 80,000 people, Merced's nightlife is existent but limited. Perhaps the highest concentration of bars lies at the intersection of Main St and Canal St. Options in this area include The Partisan, The Cue Spot Billiards, and Club Bahia Chalateco. To the west, at the intersection of 16th and V St, are two more bars: R Bar and Star Club. The city of Fresno, to the south, has many more watering holes.
Are there local sporting events in Merced?
Apart from high school sports games, Merced doesn't offer much in the way of local sporting events. Nearby Fresno, however, does. Located about an hour southeast of Merced, Fresno is home to several semiprofessional and collegiate sports teams. The Fresno Grizzlies, a baseball team belonging to the Pacific Coast League, and the Fresno Fuego, a soccer team belonging to the USL Premier Development League, both play at Chukchansi Park. The Central Valley Coyotes of Arena Football 1 and the Fresno Monsters of the North American Hockey League both play at the Selland Arena, and the Fresno Legends of the American Basketball Association play at San Joaquin Memorial High School. The athletic teams of California State University, Fresno also enjoy a large fan base.
