  • How much should I expect to pay for utilities in San Pablo each month, depending on the time of year?

Utilities won't change too drastically from season to season because of the temperate climate in San Pablo. A family of three should expect to pay about $300+ per month. This depends upon your proximity to the coast, your family size, and the size of your home. As a general rule, people who live in coastal or near-coastal cities tend to pay less for cooling than do those who live more inland. Heating expenses are usually not much of an issue since there are few months when you really need to turn on the furnace; and then, it's typically at night.

  • What does everyone in San Pablo do for fun in their spare time and on weekends?

Located north of Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco, many San Pablo residents like to venture into any of these three cities on the weekends to take advantage of their culinary and cultural offerings. Home to a substantial numbers of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, however, there is enough within San Pablo to keep residents entertained on the weekends, especially when taking into account all of the outdoor opportunities located nearby. Point Pinole Regional Park to the north, Wildcat Canyon Regional Park to the southeast, and Briones Regional Park to the east all offer hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and some camping. Mt. Diablo State Park is another popular destination for the athletically inclined.

  • What do people in San Pablo do as far as outdoor recreation?

Situated between the San Pablo Bay to the east and many parks to the west, the hardest decision San Pablo residents have to make is whether to jump in the water or hop on the trail. Popular bay-related activities include sailing, kayaking, and fishing, while Point Pinole Regional Park to the north, Wildcat Canyon Regional Park to the southeast, and Briones Regional Park farther east all offer hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as camping. Mount Diablo State Park is also located about 45 minutes southeast of San Pablo. And, if you cross the bridge past San Rafael, more options exist in Point Reyes National Seashore.
