Ready for an Apartment near CC?

A high school graduate is running through Colombia; pushing Amazonian rainforest leaves out of his face, he slips away amongst the trees, looking for a hiding spot. The boy can hear the hot breath of the guerrilla fighter right on his tail, and he knows it is fight, flight, or die. The anticipation is probably killing you, so I will tell you how the story ends. The Colombian runaway (who has dual-citizenship), barely escapes his pursuer, runs all the way to Columbia College in Chicago, immediately enrolls, and is relieved to find that finding an off-campus apartment is easier than fighting guerilla warfare. The End. Or is it…the beginning?

Make Art, Not War

The Columbian will in fact find that his decision to enroll is the beginning of a beautiful chapter in his life—an opportunity to come together with like-minded artistic folk who share a passion for media art. The Columbian always wanted to make art, not war, and at Columbia College he will work hard at his craft, take lessons from world renowned artists, actors, musicians, producers, and writers, and come out a master with an impressive portfolio. Easy as 1, 2, 3

Unlike the Amazon Rainforest, downtown Chicago is lousy with available and affordable apartments! That is why many students choose to live off campus in one of the many hip neighborhoods surrounding Columbia College. If you are sick of being around art nerds 24/7 then check out apartments in Wrigleyville, where sports fans gather en masse. If you love art (which you probably do), Belmont or Lincoln Square might be more your style. Our apartment guide is a great place to learn how to search for your dream pad. You really can’t go wrong in Chicago since almost every area has its own unique flare, is affordable, and has public transportation running through it. The U-Pass is a CTA ticket given to students and allows them to take any bus or train free free free every semester. Chicago Transit will help you get to know all the different routes. This is the point in the story where all of the dreams of the young Columbian boy come true.

Art Party!

After having all his dreams realized, the boy starts to get a little depressed because he now has nothing live for. He soon finds that he was foolish for thinking this since nighttime in Chicago is a whole other world of fun for him to discover! Since the college is right on the South Loop of downtown, along with seven other schools, it is hard to not run into college-aged people at every turn. Bars, clubs and hangouts are everywhere. Head down to Lakeview for cheap beers and a great scene at Galway Bay at 500 W Diversey Ave. For some live jazz and a dry martini, visit Underground Wonder Bar at 710 N Clark St. I hope that my attempt to convince prospective students that Columbia College is awesome was worth the offense I may have caused native Colombians.
