Capella University is a private institution, focused mostly on postgraduate learning and research in Minneapolis. Their course offering is fairly niche, with business, IT, Psychology, Public health and safety and education the main fields of study.

Half of a Whole - The Twin City

Minneapolis is half of the twin set of cities that are Minneapolis and St Paul - however it is Minneapolis alone that is designated the capital of Minnesota. The city is a center of commerce for the nation, which drives Capella's course offering.

Planned and Developed Neighborhoods

The city of Minneapolis has done their utmost to create distinct neighborhoods within the city, each with their own feel and subculture. Capella University is right in the thick of the city's action, with the Downtown East and Downtown West neighborhoods closest to CU. Also near to school are Eliot Park, Loring Park and Summer-Glenwood. You'll find plenty of parks and museums close to university, and the area itself is home to the historic mill district, Nicollet Mall, and the Metrodome as well as CU.

Apartment Choices in Minneapolis Central District

Being centrally located, there are plenty of housing rental options extremely close to school. Add this to the fact that Minneapolis is considered a walker's paradise, and you can safely ignore the rise and rise of gas prices. There are scattered apartments for rent close to school for under $600 per month, but the housing in the Central district generally varies wildly in price. Loring Park and the Downtown West neighborhoods are where most of your apartment rental choices are located.

Going A Capella Around CU

When you've just got to break free from the shackles of school, work, and that tidal wave of knowledge coming at you, you can head either north into the center of Minneapolis, or East into the Cedar-Riverside areas, where most of the nightlife in Minneapolis can be found. First Avenue and 7th Street Entry lets you cut loose for a night, and those who like their entertainment in a more relaxed form can head over the river to the Kitty Kat Lounge.

Eating out in Minneapolis is easy - if you have plenty of cash on hand! Eli's Bar and Eatery, in the Downtown West area, is one of the more reasonably priced cafes around school. Koyo Sushi Bar is also great, if a little out of the way. Most other restaurants range out of the budget of many students!
