Is Hayward famous for any kind of restaurant or food in particular? What's the local favorite?
Featured on the Food Network, Hayward's favorite burger joint Val's Burgers serves up what many consider to be the best burgers in the Bay Area. This old school hotspot grinds their own fresh meat daily and cooks up thick, charbroiled, made-to-order burgers, onion rings, extra crispy fries, and homemade shakes made with Bud's Ice Cream! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, but be sure to carpool here, as the parking lot is small and tends to fill up quickly. Also, make sure to bring cash, as Val's does not accept credit cards, and be prepared for a wait (up to 45 minutes during peak hours), but as any patron will tell you, it's well worth it!
