What neighborhoods in San Francisco are good for eating out?
San Francisco is chock-full of fabulous eating establishments. Known as "El Corazon de la Misione", the Mission: 24th Street district is a historic, tree-lined neighborhood with one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. With their own homemade tortilla chips and salsa and slow-roasted pork, Casa Sanchez is a Mission favorite, serving up scrumptious Mexican classics like burritos and enchiladas. North Beach is commonly referred to as San Francisco's "Little Italy" with a plethora of Italian ristorantes, cafes, and delicatessens. Enjoy the candlelit ambience and mouth-watering dinner souffles of Cafe Jacqueline, located in North Beach. Choose from asparagus, spinach, or lobster, each with a cheese base, and don't forget to order one of their heavenly sugar-dusted souffles for dessert!
where is the best place to live in san francisco, california for a family of 5?
Families live all over San Francisco, though the quieter neighborhoods include Pacific Heights, Noe Valley, the Marina, the Richmond, the Sunset and Cole Valley. Avoid the Tenderloin, the Haight and Western Addition.
What are the safest neighborhoods in San Francisco for families to get an apartment?
There are several nice and secure neighborhoods for families such as the Richmond, the Sunset, Noe Valley, and Pacific Heights. Especially, according to crime rates, outer Richmond and bottom of the Sunset are the safest areas in San Francisco. Both the Sunset and Richmond are on the west side of the city, and border Golden Gate Park
My husband and I are relocating to the Bay Area in Aug. Want to live in a safe neighborhood close to BART because we will only have 1 car. Is the Panhandle viable for safety and decent rents?
The Panhandle is kind of far from the closest BART stations, though you could take a bus to the BART, which would take about 20 minutes. The panhandle is a really safe area to live, it is close to Golden Gate Park, the Upper Haight and the Alamo Sqaure district. There are many eucalyptus trees around there so it smells good, too. That area is getting to the western part of the city and away from BART. Some other safe areas near BART would be Noe Valley, the Castro, and parts of the Mission, such as on Dolores Street.
How is the public transportation system in San Francisco?
Excellent. San Francisco is served by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). The mix of buses, MUNI (the subway system), and BART (the commuter rail)--and even trolleys and cable cars--can get you virtually anywhere in the city you need to go. The only catch is that you might need to wait some time if your trip requires a transfer. The easiest way to determine the best route to get from Point A to Point B is by visiting transit.511.org and typing in your starting point and destination.
What's a good neighborhood for families in San Francisco?
Noe Valley is a good neighborhood for families in San Francisco. With quaint shops and restaurants along 24th St, Noe Valley's main drag, there's certainly enough to do when taking a stroll, but there are many quiet residential areas tucked away on side streets. With many other families also living in this neighborhood, its community-centric mentality makes for a solid family atmosphere with plenty of playmates for your children. Located between Twin Peaks and Bernal Heights and not too far from Golden Gate Park, this area is also conducive to playing outdoors with kids. The Noe Valley Farmers' Market is held every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.
what are the best neighborhoods for a young professional woman working in the financial district to live in
Popular neighborhoods that offer an easy commute to the Financial District, in order of proximity to downtown, are Nob and Russian Hills, North Beach, the Mission, SOMA, Hayes Valley, Lower Haight, Alamo Square and the Marina. All those neighborhoods have bus lines running through them regularly and all have younger renters and active nightlifes. Nob and Russian Hill are a bit quieter and rely on Polk street for commerce, North Beach can be touristy and crowded, but it is easy to walk downtown and there is plenty to do after work, the Mission is a trendy neighborhood with a lively nightlife, SOMA is less of a neighborhood and more of an area with big apartment complexes and Hayes Valley, the Lower Haight and Alamo Square are all a bit west of downtown, but are very popular places to live.
