  • How would you describe the scene in West End?

The West End defines the western section of downtown DC, including the capitol's central business district, K Street. With such proximity to the White House, it's no surprise that the West End is notoriously known for its strong politically charged character. But there is much more to this neighborhood than lobbyists, special interest groups, and out-of-work congressmen. The West End is rich in history and culture, with several national monuments and landmarks located here including the Decatur House and the Renwick Art Gallery. Running along the scenic Potomac River, the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts is also situated in the West End. The Kennedy Center is a world-famous, popular destination for DC visitors and residents alike, with a magnificent concert hall, opera house, and theater. Nightlife is always exciting in the West End with a number of popular restaurants, bars, and clubs in the area.

  • What's the best bar near West End?

According to the local residents, the cozy and sophisticated Blue Duck Tavern is the best restaurant/bar in the West End vicinity. With gorgeous ambient lighting, stunning glass walls, and nice comfy chairs, the lounge atmosphere is modern and spacious, yet somehow intimate and inviting at the same time. The food is out-of-this-world with entrees like their moist and tender buttermilk roast chicken and scrumptious side dishes including the Blue Duck's renowned duck fat fries. The kitchen is located in the center of the open floor plan, but you'll need a reservation to get one of the coveted seats overlooking it. The bar serves up some unique and delicious specialty cocktails like spicy grapefruit cosmos and fragrant white sangria. Sit back and enjoy the cool music and excellent service the Blue Duck is known for.
