THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Technology Intern, you will have first-hand view of the nuts-and-bolts of powering a high-volume consumer internet business using Open Source technologies and Agile Development methods: How do we implement new site features? How to we insure quality? How do we make sure the site can scale? How do we monitor and report on activity? How do import and exchange data? Depending on your hours, your particular skills and company needs during the time of your internship, you will be involved with one or more of the following activities:

• Development or enhancement of Java web applications
• Development or enhancement of standalone Java programs
• Database work such as reporting and data import, export, transformation
• Manual and automated QA
• Work with geographic data and mapping technologies (such as Google Maps)

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Self-motivated and very detail oriented
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Can-do attitude and high energy level
• Great attitude
• Excellent academic credentials

You should have at least some of the following specific skills/experience:

• Java programming
• Web application development
• Web front end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
• Knowledge of XML/XSLT
• Working with relational databases, SQL
• Google or Microsoft maps development
