Junior Systems Administrator

Position:
The Junior Systems Administrator will work directly with all on and offsite employees of MyNewPlace. The primary objective is to address all corporate helpdesk needs and to facilitate the company business goals with planned technology initiatives. This position is an ideal opportunity for a smart, energetic, delivery focused individual to have a significant impact on the performance and growth of a new online real estate business that is founded by industry veterans, well capitalized, and backed by leading Silicon Valley venture firms.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Jr Systems Administrator role areas of responsibility:
- Caring about our business and employees and how well our corporate systems function for themJu
- Build and manage desktops and laptops per business functions
- Manage system inventory
- Manage our quality start process for the new hires
- Manage and act on helpdesk tasks
- Understand and troubleshoot corporate application issues
- Work directly with system vendors for system support needs
- Proactively probe to address business needs for system improvements
This person will work with existing IT team to insure availability and reliability of all corporate systems. This person must be able to work with or without supervision; once fully ramped up, one should prioritize work load without supervision.
This person will specifically be responsible for:
- Desktop, Laptop, Server, Phone, Network hardware maintenance
- Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS X, Linux operating system support
- MS Office suite and other corporate application support
- Support escalation on corporate services including email, network, and telecom systems
- Publishing IT “HowTo" documents
- System backups
This person may also be responsible for:
- Corporate system design and implementation
- Hardware and Software evaluation and purchasing
Depending on skills, interest, and experience, other activities might include:
- MyNewPlace web service maintenance
- Application development and quality assurance testing
Depending on the interests and skill base of the individual, other areas of opportunity may be available.
As with any startup, the individual will be expected to function well in a team environment and be prepared to assist in all aspects of the business, not just their areas of primary responsibility.
Technical Environment:
The technology environment for the majority of this work is Microsoft workstation and server applications including XP/Vista OS, Office 2003/2007 suites, Exchange, SQL Server, Symantec protection suites and other development applications. Other externally hosted services include Exchange, Fax, Voice and Web conference (Citrix GotoMeeting) and BlackBerry Enterprise services.
Required Skills and Experience:
A smart, motivated, delivery focused person who cares for the business continuity is what is most important; and of course an understanding of core system technologies is a huge plus.
Specifically your ability must include:
- Ready to learn new technology and processes
- Ownership of all helpdesk tasks including escalation to closure
- Ability to assess priority and communicate properly to insure client satisfaction
- BS/BA or equivalent
- Proof of eligibility to work in the US

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent spoken and written English; This is a must - we have a fast paced highly collaborative environment and you need to be able to rapidly absorb new ideas and follow new directions that the collective thinking is heading in.

Additional valuable skills and experience:
- Business experience, business process experience
- Customer support
- Working knowledge of business applications (MS Office 2007 Suites)
- Working knowledge of Unix, shell scripting, etc.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft server technology (ADS, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Mac OS X workstation technology
- Working knowledge of hardware troubleshooting
- Experience in VOIP and Basic PBX (ShoreTel)
- Experience in network systems (firewall, switch, ISP integration)
The individual must be a self-starter and able to prosper in a relatively unstructured work environment. Experience in working in a high growth environment is also highly desirable. The individual must value working in a closely-knit team environment where they will work relatively independently, but in close cooperation with personnel from the technical and marketing sides of the business.
