Columbia, Missouri is a major college town that is also the 5th largest city in the state. The last estimate in 2012 saw the city with a population of over 113,000 residents, with the metro area having over 175,000 residents. The city is also the county seat for Boone County, and has the nickname “CoMo”, which it gets from its student body population. The town is significantly influenced by the University of Missouri, and there are apartments, hotels, and restaurants that base much of their industry around the school.
