When the locals of West Peoria want to play, they head down to Farmington Road Entertainment District. The district, which is popularly known as "FRED", has just about everything you would want to do on a Friday night covered. Shop at a few of the locally owned shops and boutiques, grab a bite to eat, or spend the night dancing at one of the bars or clubs. There is no shortage of fun in the entertainment district, with the biggest worry being where you will want to start your night and then not wanting to go home.
Holiday Light Festiva
Peoria really knows how to bring on the holiday cheer when the city lights up at the annual Lights Festival each year. While the actual festival is only a few days, the events and activities that start during the festival continue all season long. Locals enjoy everything from a light parade to the opening of Winter Wonderland. If you want to view the lights from the water, hop on the Holiday River Cruise. But, if staying on land is more your style, you will find many holiday traditions to take part in throughout the city.
Enjoy the Local Parks
Spending time out in the community parks is a great way to enjoy Peoria. In West Peoria, residents enjoy all that The Franciscan Recreation Complex has to offer. Some of its features include a dance studio, a full-size gym, ball fields, and a playground. You can take a stroll, ride your bike, or run along the paths throughout the park. If you have a special event you would like to host, the community room at the center comes complete with a kitchen, making it a great place to host your next barbecue or family get together.
