Located just 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, West Covina is a diverse community of 113,000 people. A former farming community, today it is one of the gems of the San Gabriel Valley with well-kept neighborhoods and a vibrant lifestyle.As with most Southern California cities, you will find the area somewhat walkable but a car is necessary, and you should keep this in mind when looking for your West Covina apartment.

Walnut Capital

West Covina began as a walnut and citrus producing community, but outside of the names of streets commemorating its heritage, the city is now largely residential.With both beaches and mountains less than an hour's drive in any direction, West Covina is a centralized location for the best of Souther California living. There are 16 parks maintained by the city that all have extensive recreational facilities. You'll find a number of good golf courses, and shopping is excellent with the Westfield West Covina mall, a major regional shopping center.

How is the public transportation system in West Covina?
The City operates the GO WEST transit system, which includes three routes: Red Line, Blue Line, and Green Line. GO WEST provides shuttle service to many West Covina destinations, including the Westfield Shopping Center, Eastland Shopping Center, West Covina Civic Center, West Covina Senior Center, Cameron Community Center, and many others. Shuttles cost 50 cents each way, and schedules vary between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The City also provides a free shuttle to the Baldwin Park Metrolink station.
