Finding the Necessiti
When it comes to shopping, Warwood supplies far more than the basics. The Warwood Shopping Center is located across the street from the city's Garden Park, and it is here that you will find grocery shopping at Kroger, home goods at Family Dollar, and a few great restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat. Pick up a pie from DiCarlo's Pizza, sit down and relax with some zippy margaritas at El Paso Mexican Grill, or grab a box of doughnuts and croissants with an espresso to go from the Suzie-Q bakery before you head across the street to enjoy a snack in the park.
Being that Warwood is more of an intimate neighborhood than an amenity-filled town with plenty of conveniences, you do not have too many nearby choices when it comes to education for your children. The Warwood elementary and middle schools serve about 600 students from the neighborhood, and there is not a designated high school in Warwood. The closest schools serving grades 9-12 are the Linsly School, a highly rated college preparatory academy, and Wheeling High School, which is about 20 minutes away. On the bright side, both of the Warwood schools' standardized test scores are significantly higher than the state averages.
Warwood's Verdant Out
You might not always expect a city park to be a true community hub, but Warwood's Garden Park is the place to hang out when the sun is shining. Located on Warwood Avenue, the park has plenty of shady trees where you can cool off, a baseball diamond, public pool with $5 swimming classes, basketball and tennis courts, and a playground. Even better are the communal events held in this blossoming gathering place. Every Tuesday in summer, you can enjoy free live concerts, or you can attend free family nights throughout the year and chow down on hot dogs and ice cream with your neighbors.
