Viera means “faith,” and residents here hold theirs close to their hearts. There are places of worship for many denominations and beliefs here, including Anglican, Catholic, Latter-day Saints, and Judaism, among others. There are also many non-denominational churches. All residents are welcome to attend a congregation for services, and fellow residents greet them with open hearts and warm handshakes. Churches also provide fun, family-friendly activities, including pancake breakfasts, choir concerts, and pumpkin picking. Residents are always ready to lend some help to a neighbor, whether it is changing a tire or collecting donations for needy families.
Music to Your Ears
Viera is a community where residents deeply appreciate the beauty of music. Among the notable performers is the Brevard Symphony, whose mission is to entertain and enrich people’s lives through symphonic music. They perform selections of classical and pops several times a year. The Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts is where you will find musicals and opera as well as classic rock and country music performances. If the smooth sound of jazz is your true musical love, the Melbourne Municipal Band plays Big Band Jazz or Swingtime Jazz concerts almost every month.
Art and Education
Art lovers have much to be happy about in Viera. The Art Gallery of Viera offers classes and workshops for everyone from novices to practiced painters looking to improve. They also have new exhibits several times a year with everything from photography to glass painting. Foosaner Art Museum displays the works of both local and well-known artists and features collections from many other museums and art institutions. For an intellectual foray the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science provides visitors with historical pieces and hands-on experiments in classrooms. Exhibits offer a glimpse into the past through the likes of fossils and pieces of shipwrecks.
