Hiking and Rock Scram

Twentynine Palms prides itself on maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors and there are many hiking and rock scrambling options to take advantage of if you live in this city. The Samuelson Rocks hiking trail offers the best of both worlds. Along this trail, the philosophical engravings of John Samuelson, a homesteader of the 1920s, are still intact on some of the rocks. You can visit and contemplate while you take what can be a full day's hike if you so choose. Also check out Joshua Tree National Park, where you can view the animals and wildlife of this two-desert ecosystem.

Leisure Activities in

The city of Twentynine Palms may be isolated from the surrounding urban megalopolis by mountains, but it still maintains a dedication to forms of activity and entertainment that are typically associated with cosmopolitan leisure. There are several parks, a city swimming pool, a family-oriented performance theatre, art gallery, historical museum and, of course, a public library. And you do not have to go to Palm Springs if you want to golf, as Roadrunner Dunes Golf Course is right in town. One additional resource for the children is the nonprofit Youth Center, which offers after school help as well as fun activities.
