The residents of Tomball are serious about supporting their local farmers and craftspeople, and this is clear at the Tomball Farmer's Market occurring every Saturday morning around the year. The main attraction is always the heaps of fresh fruits and vegetables sold by farmers and their families. Shoppers will also find a variety of other artisan products and crafts for sale. For example, a number of vendors sell homemade soaps and beauty products, two choices which are always a big hit. The locally produced meats cannot be beat in quality and flavor and once the groceries have been purchased, just try and resist one of the homemade pies.
The Rails and Tails M
Tomball's strong sense of community and unique Texan identity is on full display at the annual Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival. The festival is dedicated to the delicious little river crustacean known as the crawfish. Held in early May, the celebration is two full days of crawfish cooking, live country music, and a whole mess of fun in Tomball's historic rail depot. A highlight of the festival is the boudin ball (a deep fried ball of pork) and hush puppy eating contest. Also, be sure not to miss the crawfish races, an event that is definitely a must-see and much more exciting than it may seem.
