Wright Patman Lake

One of the great things about living in this part of the country is the easy access to some spectacular outdoor recreation opportunities. With Wright Patman Lake just a few miles away, you have a huge manmade lake that is perfect for boating, fishing, and water sports on the weekends. People from both sides of the border like to come here one their days off to tool around in their boats or just do some barbecuing and picnicking by the water. It is a lovely way to waste an afternoon and also make some new friends in the process.

Higher Education

Education is important, wherever you may live, and Texarkana has a couple great higher education institutions to be aware of if you are thinking of calling this town home. Texarkana College has been around since 1927, and offers programs and degrees in anything from business and journalism to nursing and engineering. The other institute is East Texas State University, which is much newer with a founding date of 1971. This campus is part of the Texas A&M satellite institutions and specializes in upperclassmen and graduate degrees. No matter what you are looking for in a university, Texarkana has you covered.
