Fort Steuben is an intricate part of Steubenville’s history. The original fort was inside the area that now makes up present day Steubenville. Built in 1787, the fort was in service to protect government officials who were surveying area. Reconstructed in its original location, Fort Steuben continues to stand guard from its vantage point on the Ohio River. Visitors will experience a true sense of history from the tours offered here. The tours are quite informative and kids love the idea of being in an actual fort. This historic location is definitely a worthwhile family outing.
