Statesboro's Musical

Legendary American Blues musician Blind Willie McTell was an active musician in Georgia during the 1920s, during which time he wrote and recorded a song called "Statesboro Blues", which, as the title indicates, tells a story set in Statesboro. The song has a traditional blues feel, with the singer pleading with the object of his affection, and Statesboro is mentioned several times. While McTell wrote and originated the song, the more popular version that you have probably heard was performed by the Allman Brothers Band in the 1970s. "Statesboro Blues" remains one of the Allman Brothers' most famous and frequently performed hits.

Cool Off at Splash in

Georgia summers can get quite hot and humid, and while air conditioning provides relief, it is not fun to stay cooped up inside all season, particularly if you are a kid on seasonal break from school. One great way for Statesboro residents to cool off during the summer is to visit Splash in the Boro, a local water park that offers many different opportunities for fun in the water, including several slides for the adventurous, a play pool for kids, and more relaxing attractions like a lazy river ride. Parts of the park are open year-round thanks to a weather bubble.
