Jamaica Hospital

Jamaica Hospital was founded and initially operated out of a four-bedroom house, growing in time to its current status as a full-service teaching hospital with satellite clinics and care centers. As a Level I trauma center, the hospital dependably provides the fullest spectrum of emergent care to the people of South Richmond Hill. The hospital covers every other medical specialty as well, always focused on ensuring that underserved members of the community get the medical help they need.

Jamaica Bay Wildlife

The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is one of the largest wildlife refuges in the city, and also one of the best places in the entire northeast to view migrating birds. The park's wide variety of terrain leads to an equally wide variety of wildlife living within it, with many Ranger-led programs aimed at teaching people about the natural bounty of the park. The park has a number of hiking trails that allow visitors to view the wildlife and natural habitats of the bay. Although you would assume there are more of them the National Park System's only wildlife refuge is Jamaica Bay.
