Downtown Sebring plays host to several community events and festivals each year, including the Roaring 20s Festival, which celebrates the heyday of the community as a lakeside vacation town for the social elite. Typically a one-day event, although sometimes two, the Roaring 20s Festival is held throughout historic downtown Sebring. Period buildings and other historic landmarks provide the perfect backdrop for the affair, which includes vintage films, big band performances and dancing, antique car shows, historic tours of Sebring, fashion shows, and traditional, 1920s-style high teas and balls. Mark your calendar for early February and step back into the roaring ‘20s in historic downtown Sebring.
Although the state is populated by many freshwater lakes, Lake Jackson is distinctive. Mostly clear waters and sandy beaches set Lake Jackson apart, creating a comfortable, resort-style atmosphere along its shores. A popular getaway for the upper class, Lake Jackson is still a common day trip and long weekend, vacation spot for area residents, offering four swimming beaches, boat launches, freshwater fishing, and a number of other attractions. Sebring's City Pier, just west of downtown, is one of the finest areas of Lake Jackson's shores for fishing, or head out for a round of golf at Harder Hall Country Club near the lake's southwestern shore.
