Map & Local Information

Local Talk

Get answers about Seabrook from local experts or tell us what you love about it.

  • Is Seabrook a town where I'll need a car to get around?

Probably. Like most of southern Texas, public transportation is not heavily relied on by residents. Harris County Transit operates public transportation in Seabrook. Route 5 serves Clear Lake, La Porte, and Seabrook; however, stops might be far apart and buses infrequent. Consult the Harris County Transit website for more information regarding system maps and timetables.

  • Is the cost of living in Seabrook higher relative to surrounding areas or other cities?

Compared to the rest of the country, the cost of living in Seabrook is 5 percent lower than the US average. To the north, La Porte to the north is 11 percent cheaper than Seabrook, and to the south, Kemah is 5 percent cheaper than Seabrook, Bayview is 2 percent more expensive than Seabrook, and Bacliff is 14 percent cheaper than Seabrook. Dickinson to the southwest is 7 percent cheaper than Seabrook, and League City, farther west of Dickinson, is 3 percent more expensive than Seabrook. El Lago, just to the west of Seabrook, is only 1 percent more expensive. The cost of living in Seabrook, therefore, is higher compared to most surrounding towns, but not all.

  • Are there any quiet neighborhoods in Seabrook?

Yes. Taylor Lake Village, which might owe some of its quiet nature to its low, suburban population density, is one of them. It lies on the westernmost side of town and consists mostly of single-family, medium-sized homes. It's also a predominantly owner-occupied neighborhood, which might contribute to its low noise levels. However, as a smaller size town, you'll probably find that most neighborhoods are quiet--even the city center.
