Situated 15 miles northwest of Minneapolis, Plymouth has a population of just over 70,000 people. The city has been named one of the best places in the U.S. to live.It manages to balance residential areas, industry, parks, and schools in a way that makes it not only autonomous but very livable.
The center of the city is very walkable and mass transit to Minneapolis is available via Metrolink buses. A car, however, is very useful for exploring the area and being able to visit the large cities whenever you feel like it. When looking for your Plymouth apartment, consider proximity to mass transit stations or parking for your car.
Down By The Lake
Medicine Lake borders the city and is a very popular area for all sorts of recreation regardless of the season of the year. There are ample venues for hiking, biking, ice skating and more throughout the city. In addition, there is French Regional Park. The city has a small theatre for live performances and you'll find plenty of small venues for cultural activities. Of course, with Minneapolis and St. Paul so nearby, you have access to much bigger and a wider assortment of places to visit.
Know What You Want
Once in your Plymouth apartment, you'll want to work out some favorite restaurants. If you don't mind being yelled at (think Seinfeld), Jimmy John's has fantastic sandwiches, but be prepared to know what you want before you walk in the door! Joey Nova's is very good Italian food with friendly service, and Axil's Bonfire is good for sandwiches and steaks. Banh Thai has Thai food as good as any place in Minneapolis, and it won't be far away either. There are loads of chain and fast food places so you'll find about whatever you'd like here.
Good Times At Sports Bars
Joe Senser's is a chain but it is also a great sports bar and has entertainment. Old Chicago is more localized and the beer is excellent. Once in your Plymouth apartment, you will find some bars close by, and you'll find people here are very friendly too!
