Santa Ana California

Santa Ana is the most popular city in Orange County with over 350,000 people.Making up one side of the Los Angeles - Long Beach - Santa Ana triangle, it is a part of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. While Santa Ana is service by both Metrolink and Amtrak, only the downtown area is really walkable. As with most Southern California cities, the necessity of owning a car factors into a search for a Santa Ana apartment.

Village of Artists

Downtown Santa Ana has undergone a huge renewal effort and the centerpieceis now the Artists Village and the Historic Districts. Both are exciting places to shop, eat and stroll. There's also a weekly farmer's market where organic foods are available, and the old City Hall is now an interesting museum. The city maintains numerous parks which provide all sorts of recreational venues. Fourth Street is very popular with locals for shopping, dining and for the small theatre there.

Dine at a Taco Truck

Dining in Santa Ana is varied and good. Alexa's Catering, which is actually a taco truck parked on South Mountain View Road, gets high marks from everyone who has ever stopped there. Her food is delicious. If you would rather sit down at a table to dine, then Santa Ana has plenty of other options. The next favorite Mexican cuisine place is Baja Fish Tacos followed by El Gallo Giro. Tapas and Spanish food are found at Lola Gaspar. The city has a number of Asian places so you'll find great Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Korean and probably not too far from your Santa Ana apartment.

Lizzie, Lizzie

There are loads of place to find nightlife in Santa Ana so it will just depend on what you're looking for. The Lizzie Saloon is a bit of everything - straight, gay, pool hall, mini disco and more. It's usually crowded and has so many fans that sometimes it is hard to get into, but try it. The Fling is a decent dive bar, and The Olde Ship is a good sports bar. Once settled into your Santa Ana apartment, you'll start to find new favorites but these are worth a start.
