The Lopez Adobe will allow you a glimpse into the area’s past. The property was purchased from the King of Spain and remained in the Millen family until the 1970s. The home has been restored to match its original design and is on the National Historical Site list. The San Fernando Mission was founded in 1797 and was once one of the largest missions in the entire state. Tours of the mission are given daily and there is also a gift shop on the property that will allow you to take a piece of the history home with you.
History and Art
If you love art or history, be sure to stop in at the San Fernando Museum of Art and History. The museum is home to a large collection of modern and antique art pieces for your viewing. Much of the art on display reflects the history and cultural heritage of the region. Tribe paintings can also be found within the museum. Classes and programs are held throughout the year as an added bonus and you can also take advantage of the gift shop. A visit to the museum will provide you with a fun, education experience.
For an experience you will not soon forget, be sure to attend a performance at the Skypilot Theatre. The theater is an excellent place to see original works, including dark comedies and sketches. Aspiring and famous actors perform at here to provide you with plenty of entertainment. Children’s shows are produced at various times throughout the year as well so you can include the entire family.
