  • Why should I move to Rockland?

A town in Knox County, Maine, Rockland is a popular tourist destination. This could be attributed to the fact that it serves as a departure point for the Maine State Ferry Service to the islands of Penobscot Bay as much as for its scenic oceanside location. For hiking and camping enthusiasts, Camden Hill State Park lies to the north. Farther north is Acadia National Park, which features mountains, conifers, seaside cliffs, and wildlife with many trails to explore. Rockland is also home to the Maine Lobster Festival, a celebration held annually in honor of the town's main export: lobster.

Located on the Atlantic Ocean, on Rockland Harbor, specifically, much of what is fun to do in Rockland revolves around the water. Sea-related activities include swimming, sailing, boating, surfing, and fishing. Hiking is available in town at Owls Head State Park, as well at the larger Camden Hills State Park to the north. There are also two golf courses within the town limits: Rockland Golf Course and Samoset Golf Course. For the indoor set, Rockland is also home to various restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and movie theaters.
