Shopping is readily available for newcomers and longtime residents in Ridgewood. The Metro Mall-Middle Village provides a pet shop, several fast food stores, and a few clothing stores where residents can purchase mid-range clothing and accessories. Queens Center is also nearby, and offers nearly 175 chain stores for shopping variety, as well as traditional mall food fare. Groceries, electronics, clothing, tools, and a variety of household goods can be purchased at this location. A third mall, Rego Center, offers 32 stores. While this mall is smaller, it covers a more high-end range of shopping goods.

Sakura Bana is also in the Ridgewood area, offering sushi, Japanese and Chinese cuisine, and a variety of other ethnic foods. The Sushi Crab Cakes are recommended by many who visit this Asian fare restaurant.
The Ridgewood Educational Foundation oversees education in the borough, which is provided by the New York City Board of Education. The Foundation helps ensure that schools are running right and students get what they need to excel in life. A number of public elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools cater to the youth of Ridgewood, as do a variety of specialized charter schools that team up with private educators.
