Reston, Virginia

Reston, Virginia is a suburb of Washington, D.C., has a population of just over 60,000 people, and is internationally known for being a planned mixed use community. Determined, after World War II, to provide a well laid out system for both living and working, Reston stuck to a plan that has worked. It is considered the first planned community in the U.S., and today is home to major corporations as well as providing a quality lifestyle for residents. Sections of Reston are very walkable and there is mass transportation (bus only) available but you may want to own a car in this area so keep parking in mind when you search for your Reston apartment.

Village Center(s)

When Reston did its original planning, they left plenty of space for parks and green areas. You'll find ample venues for most sports including some excellent golf courses. With 55 miles of trails running through this city, whether you bike, hike or run, you'll find plenty of places to exercise. There are five village centers so you will not be far from shopping and dining no matter where your Reston apartment is located. The community center provides venues for the performing arts as well as the fine arts and also has an enormous public swimming pool. Reston is located very near the famous Wolf Trap performing arts center and summer concerts there are a must!

Walk to Dinner

Because of the planning, your Reston apartment will be within walking distance of a few restaurants. Once you get settled, you'll find there's plenty of ethnic cuisines, take-away places and more. For upscale meals, there's a Morton's Steakhouse which is always dependable. There are offbeat places like The Melting Pot for fondue, Passion Fish for great decor, and El Manantial Restaurant for fantastic lunches.

Town Tap Room

At night, Reston has a good collection of small bars. Places like Tavern on the Lake are popular, and there is live music from time to time. The Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro has a great wine list and music on Fridays. The American Tap Room suffices for the town pub. With Herndon so close, you may want to checkout some of the places there. There's a wider variety and it is close by.
