From Pioneer Days to Modern Days

<p>Rancho Cordova finds its roots in the 19th century California Gold Rush and one of its most well-known landmarks is a Pony Express stopping point known as Mills Station. One of the newest American cities, it was named for Cordova Vineyards and was not incorporated as Rancho Cordova until 2003. Mather Air Force base made its home in this city, but in 1993 it closed down for military use and became a civilian airport known as Sacramento Mathers Airport. Other parts of the Air Force base became Mather Regional Park, an outdoor mecca of nature and activity for area residents and visitors.</p><!--EndFragment-->
