Port Huron History

The history of Port Huron is depicted in the museums located in the city. The Thomas Edison Depot Museum is situated directly under the Blue Water Bridge and is home to a restored baggage car and other railroad memorabilia. If you want a unique experience, visit the Fort Gratiot Light. The lighthouse is the oldest in the state and is on the National Historic Register list. Guided tours of the lighthouse are available on a scheduled basis. Even when the lighthouse is closed, you can still enjoy a beautiful view from the park located across the beach.

Civic Theatre

The Port Huron Civic Theatre opened in 1956 and held its productions at the McMorran Place Theatre. In 1976, the theater moved into an old church, but eventually returned to its original location due to its larger size. The theater hosts a variety of performances on a scheduled basis, including productions for the youth in the community. Other special events take place here in order to involve the city’s residents in an array of activities. Classes and lessons are offered if you wish to become the star of an upcoming play or musical.

Port Huron Parks

In Port Huron, you have plenty of options when it comes to outdoor activities. The city is home to a wide array of parks, including Lakeside Park. This park features playground facilities, picnic tables, and restrooms. Volleyball areas and clean, sandy beaches are also available. At this beautiful park you can swim, boat, or just spend some time socializing. Several tot lots are located in the area as well so that you can entertain the smallest of kids. Pools, softball fields, and tennis courts can be found in the other parks throughout the city.
