Pleasanton is located in Alameda County and is a major suburb of the San Francisco Bay area. It has a population of 67,000 people and is considered one of the wealthiest middle sized towns in the United States.
Pleasanton manages to balance both residential and corporate life in a fantastic way, and maintains historically interesting and visually pleasing architecture. While there is excellent rapid transit into Oakland and San Francisco, you may want to own a car, so keep parking in mind when searching for your Pleasanton apartment.
Surrounded By Parklands
Since Pleasanton is surrounded by Pleasanton Ridge and Shadow Cliffs parks, so you'll have plenty of room for outdoor recreation. There are hiking, biking and running trails within easy distance of wherever your Pleasanton apartment is located. There's a weekly farmer's market along with an annual fair that keeps the small town spirit alive here. There are a number of street events some of which are held monthly and are great fun. Expect concerts in the park and even one of the largest Scottish Highland Games events in the country.
Since you will be only 25 miles west of Oakland, you've got all the world class museums and performing arts venues of both Oakland and San Francisco within easy reach.
Big Country Breakfasts
Even if you are still getting settled into your Pleasanton apartment, you may want the option of eating out rather than cooking. For breakfasts, Jim's Country Style Restaurant is tops for pancakes and all the trimmings. There's plenty of ethnic cuisines to be found. De La Torre's Trattoria is super for Italian, Sozo Sushi has wonderful food and is reasonably priced too, and Little Home is very good Thai. Eddie Papa's is classic burger and American fare and for a bigger night out, you can't beat the steaks at Hap's.
Go Meet Evie
At night, get out of your Pleasanton apartment for a few cold ones. The Main Street Brewery is friendly and has live music with no cover charge on weekends. Sunshine Saloon Sports Bar & Charcoal Grill is the place for big screen tvs while Redcoats is much more a traditional British style pub. Y'all Come Back Saloon is the closest thing to a dive bar but Evie's just up the road in Dublin is wonderful!
