    Plantation boasts over 670 acres of parkland, with a whopping 41 local parks situated right in town. Located on North Fig Tree Lane, the Plantation Botanical Gardens features an abundance of plant life including beautiful and rare flowers, a butterfly garden, a quaint brick pathway, and several jogging trails. Deicke Park, on NW 106th Ave, features a walking trail, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, a tot lot, and an open play area, as well as a pavilion available for picnic rentals. For a game of soccer head to Pine Island Park to use one of their seven lighted soccer fields. For some baseball hit up Sunset Park on Cleary Boulevard with seven lighted baseball diamonds and a surrounding walkway.

    Winner of the New York Times Best of Mexican Food, Zona Fresca serves up big portions of fresh, cheap, and tasty Mexican eats. Located on South University Drive, this clean local joint boasts friendly service, a pet friendly outdoor patio, a student discount, and their famous (and free!) unlimited warm tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Some favorite dishes include the chili relleno, chicken quesadilla, and the delectable fish tacos. Or try the siestamaker- a soft tortilla loaded with meats, beans, veggies, and all the fixins' and spice it up at Zona Fresca's very own "salsa bar".

    The Plantation Historical Museum opened in 1985. The premises consist of a library, museum, and botanical garden. Permanent exhibits include artifacts from the Seminole and Tequesta tribes, memorabilia from the Fire and Police departments, and historically significant families. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm (with a break between 12 and 1) Tuesday through Saturday.
