Plantation doesn't just look green from the outside, it's green inside and out do to the city's focus on green building practices, recycling, and conservation. Though renters in Plantation have easy access to all the hustle and bustle of the big city, life here is much more tranquil than in nearby Miami.

Plantation Historical Museum

Plantation didn't start out as a busy Florida city. Not surprisingly, it began as a plantation, one that was owned by the Everglades Plantation Company. Though the farms have given way to housing developments and commercial centers, Plantation is still a city that honors its heritage. The best place to learn more about the history of this corner of Florida is at the Plantation Historical Museum. The museum has artifacts from the early days of the Seminole and Tequesta Native American tribes, through the plantation days, and all the way into the modern age.

Horse Culture

Horseback riding may not be the preferred means of transportation in Plantation, but horses are extremely popular here nonetheless. The equestrian center in Plantation is devoted to the fostering the relationship between horse and rider. Whether you have a horse to board, or you just want to head out for a relaxing trail ride, Plantation Equestrian Center can meet all your horse-related needs. The center sprawls out across 85 picturesque acres, making it the perfect place to take advantage of the great weather in this sub-tropical paradise.

Plantation Preserve Golf Course

Plantation got its claim to fame from the movie Caddyshack. Sadly, the Plantation Golf Course, which was featured in the film, is no more. Fortunately, the people of Plantation aren't the type to let a little wind and water ruin their day on the links, and the new Plantation Preserve Golf Course is now open for business. This par 72 course has Florida-inspired hazards complete with recreations of Everglades wetlands. Whether you're an old pro or a newcomer to the sport, you'll find this picturesque course both challenging and relaxing.
