The Oyster Bay Oyster
Each October the residents of Plainview flock to the coastal part of Long Island to enjoy fresh oysters during the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival. This is a place where all of Long Island comes together for good food and fun. Enjoy carnival-style rides, live entertainment, and contests throughout the day. The waterfront also hosts large ships for viewing, including the Schooner Mystic, the John J. Harvey Fireboat, and The Christeen. After eating oysters, viewing boats, and enjoying live bands, head over to Audrey Avenue to check out antiques view more than 50 art exhibits along the avenue.
When you need to get out and enjoy the outdoors, Plainview is the place for you. While many people love to head to the ocean for some fun in the sun, others choose to visit the local park. The Plainview-Bethpage Community Park provides several activities throughout the year to keep locals busy in the fresh air. There is a nature trail for hiking, jogging, or biking, and during the summer months you can swim in the Olympic size pool. You can also find ball courts, a playground, and even a concession stand should you get hungry while you are out and about.
