A Community Set Outdo
The outdoors are calling in Plainview with multiple parks as well as an open country landscape that skirts the city. In town, the school sports team and weekend leagues have their choice of six baseball diamonds. Two basketball courts allow for one-on-one or team games while the golf ranges, including one for disc golf, allow for a mellow outdoor pace. The fun does not end there, however, as the multiple soccer courts, volleyball courts, softball courts, and other sports fields keep the whole town outside for a good time. Cookouts and picnics are on the agenda, too.
The history of the town includes a number of notable people in history. The founder of Netscape, James H. Clark, once called Plainview home as did American Dental Association lobbyist and public figure Felix Conkling Crawford. Michael Egnew and Jamar Wall, both NFL players, once played ball for Plainview High School. Carl Nafzger, a famed horse trainer, Lavern Roach a boxer known as much for his death as his life, and Apollo Robbins, a nationally recognized thief, all called the area home at one time. Many other people from history that graced this fine place as well.
Wining and Dining
When the sporting events for the day have ended, the couples can break from the kids and head out on the town. Big chain restaurants are common to Plainview, but the local eateries offer a personal touch. The Lonestar Ballet is perfect for date night while the Fair Theatre offers a greater variety of live entertainment. The local pubs offer a wide selection of brews and liquors and late hours for couples to enjoy a long night out on the town. When it is time to head home, ladies and gents both will be satisfied with the fun.
