Birdwatching in Pharr
The area around Pharr is recognized globally as one of the premier birdwatching locations in the country. Several species have been sighted here, which have not been found anywhere else in the United States. In fact, of the 800 bird species recorded in the US, 500 have been sighted in the region. Palm Fest is an annual folk-life festival held in neighboring McAllen. The event celebrates the shared cultural identity of the area through music, crafts, and most importantly food. The competition at the fajita cook-off is always hot, and no matter who is crowned champion the attendees win as they enjoy the sizzling regional delicacy.
