What do people do for fun in Petaluma?
Petaluma is located in the Sonoma County of California, which is one of the country's biggest wine-producing regions. Therefore, wine tasting is a popular pastime for residents and tourists alike. Located so close to great wilderness parks, such as Point Reyes National Seashore, camping, biking, and hiking options also abound near Petaluma. Closer to Petaluma than Point Reyes are the parks of Indian Tree Preserve and Olompali.

What neighborhoods in Petaluma are good for eating out?
Perhaps the greatest concentration of restaurants in Petaluma can be found in the city center. This area is located near Putman Plaza park and mostly on Petaluma Blvd, Western Ave, and Washington St. Both Petaluma Blvd and Washington St extend to the north with more dining options. Past Redwood Hwy, McDowell Blvd also offers various eateries.

Yes. In fact, Petaluma is home to a host of museums. These include the Petaluma Historical Museum, the Petaluma Wildlife Museum, and the Childrens Museum of the North Bay. Nearby Novato is also home to the Museum of the American Indian, which is devoted to Native American culture and situated on an actual site of a Miwok Village. The best-known museums in the area, however, are located about an hour south of Petaluma in San Francisco. These include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, or SFMOMA, the de Young Museum, the Asian Art Museum, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

With so much park land in and around town, Petaluma residents shall not want for outdoor activities. Helen Putnam Regional Park and Shollenberger Park are both located within the city limits, and Olompali State Park, which overlooks the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay, is just outside of Petaluma in nearby Novato; the latter offers hiking and horseback riding, as well as various picnic areas. A bit farther south, Indian Tree Preserve offers similar opportunities. For a vast expanse of nature, Point Reyes National Seashore offers hiking, camping, mountain biking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. This stretch of coast, especially Bolinas Beach, is popular for surfing as well.
