The Penn Hills Parks and Recreation Department provides a host of community locations for residents to enjoy. The Penn Hills Xtreme Skate Park offers skateboard enthusiast a place to show off their skating skills and learn some new tricks with their friends. Penn Hills Park features grills, pavilions, a playground, a bocce court, and walking trails for those who want to get in some exercising. Universal Park is the smaller of the parks, but offers grills, a playground, and a softball field. All of these outdoor venues have ample space for picnics, reunions, or any other special gatherings you want to celebrate in the open air.

Off Jefferson Road lies a beautiful area for dogs to get out and enjoy their neighborhood. The Penn Hills Dog Park is a great place to bring your furry family members to run, play, and socialize with their doggy neighbors. The park offers a fenced in space for dogs to run off leash, as well as park benches for you to relax while your dog gets their exercise. It is a way for you to also meet neighbors, enjoy the fresh air, and maybe set up a few doggy play dates to keep your puppy entertained.

Penn Hills partners with the 3 Lakes Golf Course each year to host the annual Community Festival. The event takes place during one day in June and offers free outdoor entertainment to the entire community. The festival offers locals a unique way to meet with artists, crafters, community leaders, and political groups from the area. Festival attendees can enjoy food, crafts, and organized activities while walking along the grounds of the golf course. Music is provided and the golf course offers tasty, grilled meals. Lemonade, beer, and sodas are also available for purchase during the festival.
