Pekin Marigold Festiv

The Pekin Annual Marigold Festival is truly an event the whole family can enjoy, even your family dog. The festival, which takes place each September, provides a weekend full of fun, carnival rides, parades, contests, entertainment, and much more, with its kick off being Pekin's Top Dog Contest. It is also a time for locals to showcase their talents, take part in the Subway Miss Marigold Pageant, and be nominated as Grand Marshall of the whole event. If so much excitement is not your thing, you can relax by attending the annual art show or car show, while avoiding the carnival atmosphere altogether.

Learn About Your Wild

Some of the best fun you will ever have is in the outdoors right in your own community. Just a short drive from Pekin is the Wildlife Prairie State Park, which is home to over 150 different animals native to the state. The park allows guests to learn about each animal, visit them in their natural habitat, and then explore the grounds. You can bike, hike, fish, and even ride a train. If a day is not all you want to spend at the park, you are in luck. The park has lodging available if you wish to stay a little longer.
